Good thing OPETH, who I don't care for much anymore, was on next. I was still hangin' round up front to get some pics, but after a slow crappy opening song, I decided to save what little pics I had left. GWAR had soaked one of my camera's and it wouldn't flash anymore, so I didn't trust it for pics and I had to start conserving. I love the Swedes, but not these Swedes. I don't like the slow shit. A well needed refreshment break and a drying out was needed. I was completely soaked. I was standing there drinking a cola when this guy came up to me with a microphone with another guy with a video camera and interviewed me as to why EMO SUX, cause of my shirt. I told him it had no balls and wasn't 'manly' metal, that it was pussy boy band metal. He said he assumed I was covered in blood from GWAR and I started chanting GWAR!GWAR!GWAR! in his face. Donna said they were from Headbanger's ball, but I believe it was Rob from 'Metal Injection'. People continued to approach me and high five me and shake my hand cause of my shirt. EMO SUX had become the theme of the freakin' day!!!

I noticed the Chimaira banner unfurling on stage, so my brief rest was over and back to the front I went. I've seen them about a million times and I'll see them a million more! Chimaira rules!! They came out pounding and pounding. I turned to see my son once again, fist in the air, flying atop the crowd. He flew over the barrier and wiped out one of the security guys. They both hit the ground. Everyone O.K. though. The Starland security is the best out of anyplace. I give a great thanks for all you guys catching us maniac kids( me included) who are flying through the air. You guys are part of the reason that Jersey is so much fun!! Chimaira did all my favorites and kicked my ass again!! I got my pics and dove in the pit. What a freakin' day, man!!! Can we do this every weekend? The sun was parching me and I refreshed once again for POISON THE WELL. I liked them, but UNEARTH was next and I decided to save what strength I had left. I've had bad luck with trying to see UNEARTH. Shows getting shut down before they played, plans being cancelled at the last minute and all kinds of things. The only time I saw them was at last year's Ozzfest. Oh, and just for the record, Sounds of the Underground was blowing that away!!! After POISON THE WELL finished a great set, I was planted firmly against the stage, finally awaiting UNEARTH. I would finally get pics of them. Yeah. They came and they kicked freakin' butt!!! The wait was oh so worth it!! They were heavy, pounding. The crowd became a surfing safari. I took my long awaited pics, dove back into the pit and started tossing kids skyward. I found Donna and tossed her up and took a pic of her surfing. Hell yeah!! I saw my friend Nicole get launched halfway to the moon. She's light and got some big air from a couple of big guys. It was awesome!! A surfing frenzy!! Jersey rules for surfing. UNEARTH blew the friggin' place apart!!! Yeah!! CLUTCH was next and they were good, but they never seem to do enough old stuff for me. People were kinda stoner dancing in the pit instead of moshing and surfing and it was pretty cool. But then......uh oh! AUTUMN TO ASHES was up next.

I don't know how exactly they got second billing to LAMB OF GOD, but I knew it would be an interesting mix in the pit as the metalheads began to converge up front in anticipation of Randy and the guys. Since the theme of the day, and maybe the tour (after this article) seemed to embrace the EMO SUX phrase of the day, ATA seemed pretty much doomed here in Jersey. Even though they're more 'screamo' than EMO, there's just not enough balls there. Then, my son and his friends made ol' Tgod proud by starting an E-MO SUX chant that I could hear all the way in the back of the parking lot. It's good to know that I've helped insure the future of Metal in Jersey by nurturing the young around me, to keep stupid fads like the EMO movement in it's place. Good job kids!! Fads come and go. METAL IS FOREVER!! I think I've taught them that well. Me and GWAR! He He. Oh, by the way. AUTUMN TO ASHES has since dropped off the tour. Speaking of Ashes!!! Time for "Ashes of the Wake"!! The finale of the day! Could it get any better. Only a few pics left, but I was back to the stage for the mighty LAMB OF GOD!! Another band I've seen a million times and will see a million more!! Willie walked out and raised his hands and the enormous crowd exploded!! I was right next to him and I reached up my hand and he grabbed and shook my hand. F**k Yeah!! Even though my heroes are now decades younger than me, I still get a thrill out of a hand shake or a high five with one of them. I snapped my last three pics, but stayed up there jumping around anyway for the first three songs before I pounded my way back into the chaotic crowd. L.O.G. is as heavy as it gets and they were all that and more. Randy said this was the biggest crowd on the tour so far and the Jersians were going wild!! They did they're usual set and kicked everybodys ass and it was a fine, fine end to an incredible, incredible day. After they finished us off with a frenzied "Black Label", I would list this in the top five days of my twenty-five plus year show career!! Simply amazing!!

Still, as I walked to the area where we had to get bussed back to our cars, kids were coming up to me and shaking my hand and lovin' my shirt. There was a huge crowd awaiting in that area and a F**k E-MO chant started up. So, when I boarded a bus in front of the waiting crowd, I hung my shirt out the window and my son and friends and everyone on our bus started chanting E-MO SUX BALLS!!!E-MO SUX BALLS!!The crowd outside cheered!! Screw "Taking Back Sunday"!! Metal is taking back Jersey!!!
